Yanolja Corporate Identity: A Playful Blend of Design and Function

Travel Information Platform Yanolja's Vibrant New Brand Image by Kiwon Lee

Yanolja, Seoul's leading travel information platform, has unveiled a new corporate identity that perfectly encapsulates its playful and active culture. The design, crafted by Kiwon Lee, is a testament to the brand's commitment to providing not just extensive accommodation information and reservation systems, but also trendy travel content that enhances the enjoyment of its users.

At the heart of Yanolja's new corporate identity is a logotype designed with a san-serif font, chosen to convey a simple, practical impression. The use of lower case letters lends the design a playful and rhythmic image, a stark contrast to the boldness typically associated with upper case letters. The space between each letter has been meticulously adjusted to avoid optical illusions, thereby enhancing legibility even at smaller sizes.

The color scheme is another standout feature of the design. Vivid and bright neon colors were selected and used in complementary combinations to deliver an extremely fun and popping image. The color is integral to the brand's identity, and it is highly recommended that the selected neon colors be used in all applications of the design.

The design was realized through spot color printing on paper. The technical specifications of the design include a letterhead measuring 210mm x 297mm, a business card of 90 mm x 50 mm, a DL Envelope of 220mm x 100 mm, a flat bag of 330mm x 245mm, and a note of 130mm x 210mm.

The design process, which took place over three months in Seoul, Korea, was not without its challenges. The most significant of these was creating a graphic motif that could be adapted in various ways. The solution was found in the logotype itself, with two pins and one line hidden in the design representing two spots and a route. When connected, these elements symbolize the complete travel experience that users can enjoy.

Yanolja's new corporate identity is more than just a design; it's a visual representation of the brand's ethos and a reflection of its commitment to providing a fun and engaging experience for its users. It's no surprise, then, that the design was awarded Silver in the A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2017, a testament to its creativity, technical excellence, and innovation.
